Marriage Certificate Indexes & Affidavits (1889-1953)
Marriage Certificate Indexes (1889-1953)
These indexes can be searched using the name of either the bride or groom. They provide the names of the married couple, the date of the ceremony, the city in which it was held, and the name of the officiant.
Marriage Affidavits (1889-1953)
Marriage affidavits contain more personal information than do the indexes. They include the following information for both the bride and groom: Name, place (state) of birth, age at time of marriage, and city of residence at time of marriage. These records are stored on microfilm and are organized in chronological order.
All marriage records after 1953 are held by the Vital Records section of the Orange County Clerk-Recorder. Actual marriage certificates are not available from the Archives, but may be obtained through Vital Records: http://ocrecorder.com/services/records
Marriage records from 1852 to 1889 are held by the Los Angeles Registrar Recorder/County Clerk: lavote.net
